Raymond M. Lerma
Raymond M. Lerma was born in El Paso, Texas, and raised in Corcoran, CA, in the San Joaquin Valley. Raymond comes from a large family with a migrant farm worker background that followed the crop harvests throughout the San Joaquin Valley and the Willamette Valley in Oregon. He graduated with a B. A. in Chicano Studies and earned a teaching credential from U.C. Berkeley. He is a retired school teacher having worked with students ranging from kindergarten to high school. Raymond has served on the city council member for over 20 years and is currently the Mayor for the City of Corcoran. He writes short stories and poems about the farm worker and the Chicano/Mexicano life experience. [Editor note: R. M. Lerma passed in January, 2020. Descanse en paz]
